Happy Birthday Sarai!!! Your dress is gorgeous on you and it’s also so beautiful on the hanger. I am crazy about the ruffled bias tape along the bottom. I ordered the pattern:)

Thank you! I really like these old Laura Ashley patterns. I made another one this spring which I adore, and made a video about it (up on the Seamwork YouTube channel). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3itaw_dU2B4

I agree with Tina-- your dress is gorgeous and looks great on you! I followed the link to the pattern you used. Unfortunately it says "Petite" I am not very experienced in pattern alteration and so could use suggestions for a similar style from another pattern resource Any thoughts? Enjoying your writings on creativity and time and all your creative ideas. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. and Happy Birthday!

Hi Diane! Mine is not labeled as petite. Maybe there is a petite and regular size version if you keep searching by the pattern number?

Thanks for your response-- I will keep searching and won't confine it to that one link. I feel inspired.

You’ve inspired me to dig out the 3-4 packages of denim bias tape I have in my stash and put them to creative use!

How fun! I honestly never thought about denim bias tape until I saw that Sandro dress. Is it very thick, or more like chambray? I’m curious!

It’s quite denimy. Not chambray, but not so heavy as to make it difficult to use (I think). I picked it up in one of those discount ends-of-line stores that sell a wide variety of home goods and clothing. I love collecting random notions!

Bias tape is one of my favorite things about sewing! I am about to embark on a bias tape button loop situation and am very excited about it :)

Ooh, I’d love to see that!

I frequently make my own bias and like to use it as kind of a reverse faced hem for a decorative finish—it works really well on a gentle curve.

Yes, I love doing that too! One of my favorite edge finishes.
