Taking Trips
A short photo diary of my travels to Ireland, a few quick thoughts, and off to bed.
Welcome to Spring, Issue #12 of Making Time. Each week, I share a seasonal perspective on the creative process. If you’d like to follow along on this year-long experiment, you can subscribe for free.
Hi all,
I’ve just returned from a trip to Ireland, my first adventure outside the US since the start of the pandemic.
It was magical, from start to finish. But since I’m still a bit jet lagged and need to go to bed very soon, I’m going to keep this short and sweet and mostly share a few photos with you today.
The one thing I do have on my mind is that travel can be profoundly perspective-shifting and a great source of creative ideas. It seems to cast a new light on your entire life, revealing shadows you never seemed to notice before.
But like most inspiration, it’s ephemeral. You have to capture it quickly, get it down somehow, make whatever commitments you need to make before your old ways suck you back in.
That’s true of big adventures, but also the little every day ones. Without action, inspiration is very likely to evaporate.
No links today, just pretty pictures. I’ll return next week with all new stuff to share.
PS: Thank you all for sharing your spring discoveries last week! Be sure to check them out and add your own if you’d like. I had fun reading them, and perhaps we can do it again in the summer.
Thanks for reading Making Time. If you’re new here, you can subscribe for free to receive new posts each week.
